Don Graves
Good morning and welcome to day two of the 2022 SelectUSA Investment Summit. I’m Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves.
It was a pleasure to meet so many of you yesterday. This is my first ever in-person SelectUSA Investment Summit. After a challenging couple of years navigating a global pandemic, it’s exciting to be together, making connections and sharing stories of success in the U.S. through foreign direct investment.
As Secretary Raimondo said yesterday, our task this week is to make sure you know why America is the top choice for starting or expanding business operations.
Our SelectUSA program continues today with more exciting sessions for you featuring administration officials, governors, and CEOs of major companies who are investing in American infrastructure projects.
We will also hear from innovators who discovered the full scale of their potential through U.S. investment, watch the next rounds of SelectUSA Tech industry and regional pitching sessions, hear about new SelectUSA guides and resources, and meet women in tech who are making their mark in their specific tech fields.
Thank you to all of our speakers, panelists, moderators, and pitching session judges who are making this event possible through their wealth of knowledge and dedication to investment in the U.S.
And special thank you to our SelectUSA team for the success of the SelectUSA Investment Summit.
I’m excited for everything that day two has to bring, and I hope you are too.
It is now my pleasure to welcome to the stage two very special Administration colleagues with whom we at the Commerce Department have been partnering closely.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo has been at the forefront of many of America’s biggest economic priorities since the 2008 financial crisis and has worked in organizations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors to build a stronger and fairer economy.
At Treasury, Deputy Secretary Adeyemo has taken a leading role in the Department’s national security, economic inequality, and pandemic-related economic recovery work.
I am excited to welcome Deputy Secretary Adeyemo and to hear about Treasury’s efforts to promote economic growth and ensuring the financial security of the U.S.
Export-Import Bank President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis has over 25 years of leadership experience in international affairs, legal, public policy, business and regulatory affairs, and subnational diplomacy.
Previously, she was the first Black woman to serve as the Vice President and Counselor to the President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she led initiatives focused on fostering strategic alliances between small businesses, especially women- and minority-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and executives.
I am thrilled to welcome Chair Lewis and to hear about EX/IM’s ongoing efforts to support American job creation, prosperity, and security through exporting.
